Patna, June 26 -- The Bihar government will introduce a new law for universities to improve the quality of higher education in the state. The new Act will be based on the best practices followed by universities in other states and central universities.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting held on Friday at Lok Bhawan in Patna. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Governor Syed Ata Hasnain and focused on the development of higher education in Bihar.

One of the key decisions taken during the meeting was to end the long delays in issuing university degrees. Officials said work is being carried out in mission mode to distribute all pending degrees by September 30.
