Patna, April 18 -- In a major step aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector, the Bihar government will procure pulses and oilseeds including masoor (lentil), chana (gram), and mustard at Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the first time in the state, following approval from the Centre.
Official sources said here on Saturday that procurement of masoor has already begun from April 10, with the MSP for the current year fixed at Rs 7,000 per quintal.
The move is expected to directly benefit farmers by ensuring remunerative prices and encouraging higher cultivation of pulses and oilseeds.
The initiaive is part of the state government's broader strategy to boost agricultural productivity under its development agenda.
