Patna, June 27 -- The Bihar government has spent Rs 180 crore over the past 16 years on the socio-economic upliftment of the Tharu tribal community, significantly improving infrastructure and living conditions in Tharu-dominated areas of the state.

The Integrated Tharuhat Development Agency, established in 2010 at Bettiah in West Champaran district, has been implementing comprehensive development programmes in Tharu-majority regions.

According to official information, the agency has proposed 357 development schemes, of which 286 have been completed.
