Patna, Sept. 14 -- Makhana, popularly known as fox nuts, has emerged as a "superfood" from Bihar and has established a distinctive identity in global markets.
Bihar accounts for a major share of India's total makhana production, estimated at around 75 to 85-90 per cent. The state's traditional sattu, made by grinding roasted gram or barley, is also regarded as a nutritious staple that represents Bihar's culture, health-conscious food traditions and culinary identity.
Sattu can be prepared within minutes and is particularly popular during summer. It is known for its cooling properties and is rich in protein and fibre, making it a popular traditional beverage and food among people in Bihar.
