Patna, June 16 -- : The Bihar Rural Works Department has completed the construction of more than 38,000 zebra crossings across rural roads in the state, significantly enhancing pedestrian safety near schools, hospitals, markets and other sensitive locations.
Official sources said here today that as part of a comprehensive road safety campaign, the department identified vulnerable spots along 30,955 rural roads under its maintenance programme and set a target of constructing 38,203 zebra crossings. So far, 38,016 crossings have been completed, achieving 99.51 percent of the target.
