Samastipur, April 13 -- Bihar Panchayati Raj Minister Deepak Prakash today announced that the upcoming panchayat elections in the state will be conducted on the basis of the existing (old) delimitation.
The minister told news persons here that preparations are underway to hold the elections on time using the current delimitation framework.
He explained that the proposed national Census in 2021 could not be conducted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which delayed the process of fresh delimitation. He added that once the ongoing Census exercise across the country is completed and data becomes available, delimitation for Lok Sabha and State Assemblies will be undertaken.
