Patna, Sept. 26 -- Bihar has been put on heightened alert in view of heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of the Gandak River in Nepal, with authorities directing vulnerable districts to intensify monitoring and keep rescue and relief resources ready.
The Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit held a high-level emergency review meeting this forenoon at the Disaster Management Department and issued the directions.
Officials said special vigilance was being maintained in border districts and areas linked to the Gandak, Bagmati and Kosi river systems in view of the prevailing weather and river conditions.
