Patna, July 21 -- The Bihar Assembly passed the Bihar Gambling Prohibition Bill, 2026 by voice vote on Tuesday, introducing stricter measures to curb online betting and gambling.
Under the new law, strict action and severe penalties have been prescribed for anyone who gambles, operates gambling activities, or provides financial assistance for gambling through online platforms, mobile apps, or other digital means.
Introducing the Bill in the House, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said that a new law had become necessary to effectively curb gambling in the state in line with changing times and technological advancements.
