Patna, July 31 -- In a significant political development, BJP MLC Devesh Kumar resigned from the Bihar Legislative Council on Friday, paving the way for Bihar's Panchayati Raj Minister Deepak Prakash's entry into the Upper House of the state legislature.

Devesh Kumar submitted his resignation to the Chairman of the Legislative Council. His term was scheduled to end on March 16, 2027.

Political observers believe that by resigning before the completion of his tenure, Devesh Kumar has provided Deepak Prakash, son of RLM President Umesh Kushwaha, with a fresh political lifeline by opening the door for his nomination to the Legislative Council.
