Patna, Aug. 1 -- Bihar on Saturday launched the Gram Manchitra initiative to create GIS-based digital maps of villages, enabling digital identification of properties, public assets and essential services to improve planning, governance and transparency at the Panchayat level.
Sources in the Panchayati Raj Department said the platform would digitally map houses, agricultural fields, roads, bridges, ponds, canals, schools, Anganwadi centres, health sub-centres, government buildings and houses built under government housing schemes.
