Patna, Sept. 16 -- CPI(ML) MP from Ara Sudama Prasad Wednesday urged the Bihar government to expedite relief and rescue operations for people affected by floods and provide compensation for the losses suffered.
Addressing a press conference here, Prasad said nearly 50 lakh people in 15 districts of Bihar had been affected by the floods. He demanded that district- and block-wise official figures of flood-related deaths be made public.
According to the party, it has collected information on flood-related deaths in Bhojpur, Bhagalpur, and rural Patna. The party claimed that 24 people had died in Bhojpur, 10 in Bhagalpur and 10 in Punpun block so far.
