Patna, March 18 -- Women's participation in agriculture is steadily emerging as a key driver of empowerment in Bihar, with the state Agriculture Department ensuring greater inclusion of women farmers across its schemes.

According to official data, nearly one-third of the state's agricultural workforce now comprises women.

Official sources said on Wednesday that the agriculture department has been actively promoting their involvement by earmarking at least 30 per cent participation for women in various subsidy-based schemes.

These include high-value and emerging sectors such as mushroom cultivation, makhana, papaya and dragon fruit farming.
