Patna, June 16 -- : Bihar Minister for Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources Nand Kishore Ram today said that the state has immense potential for the development of fisheries, fish farming and aquaculture, which can play a significant role in generating employment and reducing migration.

Addressing a fisheries conclave, the minister said here that the department is committed to reaching rural areas and strengthening livelihood opportunities in villages.

Ram said Bihar has been registering record growth in fish production. The state's total fish production increased from 9.69 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25 to 10.28 lakh metric tonnes in 2025-26.
