Patna, May 13 -- With more than 70,000 palm trees being identified for Neera extraction, the Chief Minister Neera Promotion Scheme is being rapidly expanded across the state, giving a significant boost to rural livelihoods in Bihar.
Official sources said here on Wednesday that the scheme was initiated in the 2026-27 financial year and now with commencing of Neera tapping season more than 70,000 palm trees have been identified for extraction.
According to the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society, JEEViKA, around 11,000 tappers have been identified for the nearly two-month-long Neera season, out of which 7,900 have already been issued licenses.
