Sheikhpura, July 31 -- A farmer died after coming in contact with a live 440-volt power line while transplanting paddy in a field in Bihar''s Sheikhpura district.

Police said here today that the incident occurred recently in Uksi village under the Karande police station area in Chewara block.

The deceased was identified as Kundan Kumar, son of Binod Mahto, a resident of Uksi village.

Kundan had gone to the fields with other villagers for agricultural work when he accidentally came in contact with a 440-volt live electric wire that had fallen into the field. He suffered severe electrocution and died on the spot.

Following the incident, local residents gathered at the spot. The family has demanded action against the electricity department...
