Bengaluru, June 26 -- union Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Friday asserted that land acquisition for the proposed Bidadi Township project should not be forced on unwilling farmers, while questioning the Karnataka government's claim of having disbursed only Rs 19 crore in compensation for a project estimated to cost Rs 20,000 crore.
Addressing reporters, Kumaraswamy said the majority of farmers affected by the proposed township project were unwilling to part with their land despite the agitation entering its 470th day.
"If all the farmers voluntarily agree to give their land, I have no objection. But they should not be forced or intimidated. Such issues must be resolved through dialogue and goodwill," he said, adding that he w...
