Bengaluru, Aug. 9 -- Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Sunday sought to blunt the BJP-JDS campaign against the proposed Bidadi township project by recasting their joint padayatra as a political exercise aimed at reviving the JDS and establishing its third-generation leadership rather than championing farmers' interests.
"This is a JDS revival campaign and an issue to establish its third-generation leadership. This is not a farmers' issue. That is very clear," Priyank Kharge said.
His sharp characterisation comes as the BJP and JDS have joined hands for the padayatra, putting the Congress government under pressure over the proposed township project and allegations concerning land acquisition and farmers' compensation.
