Siliguri, Sept. 5 -- Bhutan has launched the third phase of its Nationwide Accelerated Dog Population Management and Rabies Control Programme, with the government seeking to consolidate its achievement of eliminating dog-mediated human rabies while ensuring humane and sustainable management of the country's free-roaming dog population.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the programme will focus on sustainable dog population management, responsible pet ownership, maintaining 100 per cent sterilisation coverage of free-roaming dogs, sustaining high anti-rabies vaccination coverage and strengthening surveillance and early response.
