Now, a comprehensive genetic study published in the journal PLOS ONE has not only answered this question but also established Sri Lanka as a 'gateway' to human history.
This joint study, conducted by 16 researchers from five institutions worldwide, including Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and the University of Colombo, conducted a detailed DNA analysis of the ancestors of Sri Lanka's three major communities-Sinhalese, Sri Lankan Tamils, and Veddas.
