Kendrapada, Sept. 2 -- Forest personnel of Bhitarkanika National Park are all set to conduct the annual monsoon bird census from Thursday at three major nesting sites within the national park, Rajnagar Mangrove (Forest) and Wildlife Division DFO Varadaraj Gaonkar said on Wednesday.

Gaonkar said the census will be conducted at Matha Dia, Laxmi Prasad Dia and Durgaprasad Dia, which have emerged as important nesting and breeding grounds for colonial waterbirds during the monsoon season.

The forest department has constituted four teams for the census. Three teams will be deployed at Matha Dia, while another team will cover Laxmi Prasad Dia and Durgaprasad Dia.
