Karwar, May 25 -- Tension prevailed in Karnataka's communally sensitive coastal town of Bhatkal on Monday following protests over the relocation of the Hindu religious site 'Moorin Katte', prompting authorities to impose prohibitory orders and tighten security across sensitive areas.
Police said prohibitory orders have been imposed for three days in the town, while four FIRs have been registered and six persons arrested in connection with the incident.
Karwar Superintendent of Police M N Deepan said the original Moorin Katte religious site had not been demolished and remained safe.
