Mumbai, July 20 -- The ambitious Bhandup Bird Park project in Mumbai's suburban district is set to accelerate efforts towards biodiversity conservation and sustainable eco-tourism, with an investment of Rs 45 crore allocated through the District Planning Committee, Guardian Minister Adv Ashish Shelar announced.
Adv Shelar inspected the proposed project site at Bhandup on Monday in the presence of MLA Mihir Kotecha, corporators Prakash Gangadhare, Hetal Gala Morvekar and Deepika Ghag, along with senior officials.
The project is planned within the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary, a Ramsar site of international significance, and will cover around 20.09 hectares along the Thane Creek shoreline near the Bhandup Pumping Station.
