Bilaspur, July 8 -- There are signs of intensification of the struggle over the years-old demands of the families affected by the Bhakra Dam. Rural Bhakra Displaced Reform Committee, Bilaspur, through the district administration, has warned the State and Central Government that if the pending issues related to rehabilitation and compensation are not resolved soon, the displaced families will launch a massive protest movement.
A delegation led by committee chairman Deshraj Sharma submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar. The memorandum said that thousands of families who lost everything to the Bhakra project are still fighting for their rights.
