Shimla, March 6 -- Claiming that financial mismanagement by past government had added to the state's debt burden, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said Himachal Pradesh could have been debt-free if around Rs 70,000 crore received earlier had been utilised more effectively.
Addressing a public gathering at Diyargi in the Nachan Assembly constituency of Mandi district on Friday, the Chief Minister reiterated that the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) would never be discontinued in the state and assured government employees that their interests would continue to be safeguarded.
During the event, Sukhu announced that a Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding School would be established in Chhatar to strengthen educational facilities in the region.
