Kolkata, Sept. 21 -- The Bengali film fraternity has expressed grief over the death of veteran actress Mithu Mukherjee, with actors Ranjit Mallick, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jeet remembering her and paying tribute to her contribution to cinema.
Mukherjee died at a private hospital in Mumbai on Sunday night following a prolonged battle with cancer at the age of 71.
Her long-time fellow actor Ranjit Mallick, in a video posted on Instagram, spoke about the shock he felt on hearing of Mukherjee's death.
He found it extremely difficult to come to terms with the news, especially given that the actress was significantly younger than him; consequently, the news of her sudden passing simply did not seem real to him.
