Kolkata, Aug. 7 -- West Bengal's probe into an alleged blood bank scam widened on Thursday after the Health Department carried out fresh searches at Life Care Blood Bank while the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC) sought action against six more private blood banks in Kolkata over allegations of illegal blood and plasma diversion, fraud and serious breaches of blood safety norms.
A special team from Swasthya Bhavan the health department headquarters, assisted by police, simultaneously searched Life Care Blood Bank's branches at City More and New Town, seizing several documents for examination.
