Kolkata, Aug. 12 -- A few days after the Bengal STF arrested a suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed operative accused of collecting information on senior political leaders, the state agency arrested another suspected ISI operative from Bongaon near the India-Bangladesh border.
The arrested man, identified as Rana Raut, is also known as Wahab Alam.
Investigators suspect that Rana, originally from Faisalabad in Pakistan, had been living in India using forged documents and was passing sensitive information related to the movements of the Indian Army and the Railways to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
According to the investigation, Rana entered India illegally through Nepal in 2012.
