Kolkata, Sept. 21 -- Criticising the previous Trinamool Congress government for not fully utilising central schemes, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari called for close coordination with the Centre to make the state self-reliant in the fisheries sector.
The remarks came after a fisheries review meeting in Kolkata co-chaired by Adhikari and union Fisheries Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh on Monday.
The nearly one-hour meeting organised by the union Department of Fisheries focused on increasing fish production, expanding aquaculture, improving infrastructure and strengthening market linkages in the state.
