Siliguri, July 16 -- The West Bengal government will develop the proposed Jhargram Tiger Safari on the lines of the North Bengal Wild Animals Park, popularly known as Bengal Safari, State Forest Minister Manoj Kumar Oraon said after visiting the facility here.
Impressed by the sprawling wildlife park, the minister said he was unaware that North Bengal had such a world-class safari.
"We are thinking of developing the Jhargram Tiger Safari on the model of the Bengal Safari. The process has already started in Jhargram," he told reporters after visiting the park.
Spread over 297 hectares at the entrance to Siliguri, around eight km from the city, Bengal Safari was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on January 22, 2017.
