Kolkata, July 30 -- The West Bengal government received nearly 2,000 complaints on the very first day of operation of its newly launched toll-free anti-corruption helpline, according to sources at Nabanna.
The helpline, announced by chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday and made operational from Wednesday, has been introduced to allow citizens to report alleged corruption and criminal activities directly to the state administration.
Officials said the complaints were not confined to allegations of cut-money, syndicate operations or illegal toll collection.
The Nabanna control room also received grievances related to the Annapurna Bhandar scheme, land and property disputes, poor road conditions, drainage problems and waterlogging.
