Kolkata, April 3 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday ordered the suspension of a Joint Block Development Officer (JBDO) in West Bengal for openly canvassing for the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC.
Besides the suspension, the Commission also ordered initiation of disciplinary actIon against Jytosna Khatun, the Joint BDO of Khandaghosh Development Block in Purba Bardhaman district.
Commission sources said the official was suspended for "openly canvassing for TMC".
The state Chief Electoral Officer Monoj Agarwal had earlier recommended the suspension and initiation of discliplinary action against Khatun, who is the Assistant Returning Officer of the Khandaghosh Assembly constituency.
