Sabang, April 17 -- Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Friday recast the contest for the Sabang Assembly constituency as a decisive battle between "Bengal's self-respect" and what he termed the BJP's "politics of intimidation".
Addressing a packed rally at Temathani Pallishree ground here in West Midnapore district, Banerjee launched a sharp offensive against union Home Minister Amit Shah, while invoking an alleged ground-level incident to question the Opposition's democratic credentials, just weeks ahead of the counting day.
Referring to the alleged incident involving a young woman and her two-year-old child, he claimed they were threatened by "BJP-backed elements".
