Kolkata, June 18 -- Governor R.N. Ravi on Thursday praised the performance of West Bengal's BJP government, highlighting its efforts to restore law and order, curb illegal infiltration, improve women's safety, and revive economic growth.

Addressing the state Assembly on the first day of the maiden Budget Session under the new administration, the Governor also lauded the government's welfare initiatives.

The first phase of the Budget Session will continue till June 25.

The Budget for the financial year 2026-27 will be presented by Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta on June 22.
