Kolkata, Aug. 9 -- The West Bengal government honoured 325 people who were jailed for opposing the Emergency imposed in 1975, with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announcing a monthly allowance of Rs 10,000 and a host of other benefits for them.
At a special programme at Nabanna on Sunday, the Chief Minister presented the 'Loktantra Senanis' with copper plaques and certificates of honour.
State Commerce and Industries Minister Tapas Roy and other dignitaries were also present.
Announcing the benefits, Adhikari said the government was fulfilling its commitment within 90 days of assuming office.
The 325 honoured persons will receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000.
They will also be provided Rs 1,000 for medical assistance at governmen...
