Bengal BJP chief castigates opposition for stalling women's quota amendment bill in LS
Kolkata April 18 (UNI) BJP's West Bengal unit president Shamik Bhattacharya on Saturday came down heavily on the Trinamool Congress, Congress and other opposition parties for stalling the Constitution Amendment Bill aimed at securing reservation for women in legislatures in 2029.The Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill, intended to implement one-third women's reservation in the Lok Sabha and the legislative assemblies, fell through in the Lower House of Parliament on Friday as the government could not muster the two-thirds majority required to pass the legislation."We wanted this as we wanted an increase in representation of women in the Lok Sabha.
