Burdwan, May 28 -- A woman whose name was deleted and then restored in the electoral roll during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, allegedly committed suicide due to anxiety over her citizenship status after losing the booth slip, given by the BLO, while casting her vote in the recent West Bengal Assembly polls.

The deceased, Manu Sheikh (65), was a resident of Companydanga under Kalna Police Station area.

Manu's name, according to the district administration officials, was later restored after a hearing. She also voted in the recent Assembly elections, the family members said.
