Asansol, Sept. 6 -- In a major push to clean up civic spaces, the West Bengal Urban Development and Municipal Affairs (UDMA) Department has launched 'City Watch Cars', a hi-tech surveillance on wheels to monitor public sanitation and curb littering, spitting, and public urination for the largest civic body in the state, Asansol Municipal Corporation (AMC).

State UDMA Minister and Asansol South MLA Agnimitra Paul, alongside Asansol Municipal Corporation (AMC) Commissioner Dilip Mishra, flagged off the first two hi-tech surveillance vehicles at a function in Asansol. This rollout follows the state's recent launch of a dedicated solid waste management app and the strict implementation of civic penalties since September 1.
