Kolkata, May 20 -- : The West Bengal Assembly Secretariat clarified that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has not yet been officially granted the status of opposition party in the Assembly due to lapses in the documentation process.
Addressing a press conference, Assembly Secretary Samarendra Nath Das said on Wednesday that the proposal sent by the party lacked crucial procedural details and signatures of MLAs.
According to Das, the letter submitted by the TMC named Shovandeb Chattopadhyay as the Leader of the Opposition, Firhad Hakim as the Chief Whip, and Nayana Bandyopadhyay and Asima Patra as Deputy Leaders.
