Kolkata, June 24 -- Police have recovered three kg of gold jewellery worth Rs 4 crore from the residence of a close aide of arrested Trinamool Congress leader Sabyasachi Dutta in Tehatta of Nadia district.

The recovery was made during an overnight search following information obtained from Dutta, a former Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation Mayor, during interrogation, police said today.

Dutta was arrested earlier this month by personnel from the Bidhannagar South Police Station on multiple charges, including extortion and the accumulation of illegal assets.

The jewellery was found from the residence of Tina Bhowmik Saha, a TMC leader and member of the Nadia Zilla Parishad, during last night's raid. Dutta had accompanied the police.
