Kolkata, March 5 -- Noted lawyer Sourav Chandra joined Trinamool Congress in presence of state finance minister and Trunamool Mahila Congress chief Chandrima Bhattacharya on Thursday.
Bhattacharya said Chandra was a chamber junior of JP Khaitan, a famous tax and constitutional lawyer in the country. She handed over the TMC flag and inducted him into the party.
Bhattacharya, herself a well-known high court lawyer, said Chandra has an admirable track record as a constitutional and tax lawyer.
She alleged that the BJP has used the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central bureau of Investigation (CBI) as tools to scare the opposition leaders. The two agencies had filed 5906 cases and out of this, conviction was done in only 25 cases.
