Durgapur, Oct. 29 -- NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Dr Ashok Lahiri on Thursday concluded a two-day visit to Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), during which he reviewed the rehabilitation and resettlement of families affected by mining activities and land subsidence in the Raniganj Coalfields.
During the visit, Lahiri toured rehabilitation sites at Andal and Sonepur in Durgapur, interacted with residents and reviewed the availability of civic amenities.
At the Sonepur Bazari Open Cast Project, he was briefed on mining operations and reclamation measures undertaken by ECL.
Lahiri also inaugurated a 'Waste to Wealth' sculpture at Sonepur Bazari, depicting a Marion 7820-15 dragline machine made from industrial scrap. ECL had introduced the giant c...
