Alipur, June 25 -- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Sayem Chowdhury, a member of West Bengal's Malda Zilla Parishad, in connection with the confinement of officials, blockade and alleged attack on judicial officers during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

Chowdhury contested the Assembly elections as a Congress candidate from Mothabari.

On April 1, 2026, judicial officers were working at the BDO office in Kaliachak-II Block at Mothabari in Malda district to carry out work related to the SIR process.
