Siliguri, Sept. 9 -- Nearly three lakh people have been badly affected by floods in West Bengal's Malda district as the situation continued to deteriorate on Wednesday, with fresh areas coming under water and the Ganga rising steadily above the extreme danger level.
The Mahanandatola Primary Health Centre in Ratua-I was inundated by fresh floodwater, adding to the mounting pressure on the administration and health services in the affected areas.
The Ganga at Malda reached 25.99 metres at 2 pm on Wednesday, nearly 26 metres and well above the extreme danger mark of 25.30 metres.
