Kolkata, July 13 -- A week-long afforestation campaign where over one crore tree saplings will be planted across West Bengal will be launched by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Adhikari will inaugurate Aranya Saptah 2026 (Forest Week 2026) at Central Park in Salt Lake, a tony neighbourhood of Kolkata, marking the start of a statewide drive to plant 1.1 crore saplings under the national theme 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' (A tree for the mother).
The week-long campaign, that is going to be observed from July 14 to July 20, is part of the state government's year-long afforestation programme aimed at planting and nurturing 1.10 crore trees across West Bengal.
