Siliguri, Sept. 3 -- A micro-drone is keeping a close watch from the sky over the vast "sea of grass" at Jaldapara National Park located in West Bengal's Alipurduar district, where 10- to 12-foot-high grass has turned large parts of the forest into a natural shelter and feeding ground for wildlife.
The Jaldapara forest authorities have stepped up surveillance in the tall grassland to prevent poaching and keep a close watch on suspected poachers who may try to use the dense vegetation as cover. The drone-based surveillance is part of a wider anti-poaching and preventive forest protection operation being carried out in the national park.
