Berhampore, July 26 -- Bengal Police on Sunday arrested Selim Sheikh, a close associate of Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) leader and West Bengal MLA Humayun Kabir, in connection with the investigation into the latter's controversial speech allegedly threatening political opponents in Murshidabad.
Selim Sheikh, a leader of the AJUP, was arrested from his residence at Nabagram under Shaktipur police station in Murshidabad district during a late-night operation on Saturday.
He was produced before the Berhampore district court on Sunday seeking police remand.
