Kolkata, June 21 -- Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed Kolkata and several districts of south Bengal on Sunday morning, leading to waterlogging in several parts of the city, uprooting trees and disrupting normal movement in some areas.

A spell of intense rain lasting nearly an hour inundated several neighbourhoods, including Patuli, Jadavpur, Kasba, Sealdah and Kankurgachi. Water entered low-lying areas and caused inconvenience to residents, though drainage operations helped reduce water levels in some localities later in the day.
