Siliguri, July 30 -- The long-pending political aspirations of the people of the Darjeeling Hills, Terai and Dooars returned to the spotlight this week as two Gorkha organisations adopted different approaches to press their demands-one engaging the West Bengal government and the other approaching the Centre through its appointed interlocutor.
On Wednesday, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) president Bimal Gurung, accompanied by party general secretary Roshan Giri, met West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari in Kolkata. State Labour and Transport Minister Arjun Singh was also present during the meeting.
