Kolkata, June 22 -- Troubles have deepened for Sumit Roy, a close aide of Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, after a fresh complaint against him alleging cheating and forgery was lodged at Debra police station in West Bengal's West Midnapore district.
The new case, which also names former Midinapur MLA Sujoy Hazra, has prompted police to launch an investigation even as Roy continues to evade law enforcement in connection with an earlier land corruption case registered at Salboni police station.
Roy is already facing a series of allegations, including land-related irregularities and extortion in the name of securing party nominations.
