Siliguri, Sept. 29 -- A temporary floating footbridge is being constructed at South Chandipur in Malda's Manikchak area to provide relief to residents who have been facing serious problems in crossing a damaged portion of the embankment following the recent flood in Bhutni.
The initiative has been taken by the Malda district administration as part of the post-flood restoration work in the three gram panchayats of Bhutni, which were badly affected by the rise in the Ganga. The work on the floating bridge started on Monday and is expected to be completed within the next few days.
